Introduction to Memoir Writing with an Award-Winning Writer

As Isabel Allende says, “A memoir forces me to stop and remember carefully. It is an exercise in truth. In a memoir, I look at myself, my life, and the people I love the most in the mirror of the blank screen. In a memoir, feelings are more important than facts, and to write honestly, I have to confront my demons.”

In this workshop, we’ll stop to look in the mirror at ourselves, our lives, and the people we love and turn the images we see and the memories we have into words on the page. We’ll read excerpts by memoirists Cheryl Strayed (Wild) and Kelly Corrigan (The Middle Place).
