Creative Family Activity of Musical Improvisation

Long before man created sound systems, music halls or even musical instruments, humanity was already engaged in creating music.

Today, More than ever, when billions of people have to stay indoors, is a good time to remember that each one of us can create an amazing piece of music. This is the philosophy behind Instant Composition.

In this workshop, specifically created for families, I will provide you with all the tools you need for creating your own spontaneous, unique and creative composition. No prior knowledge is needed and everyone can participate.

The workshop consists of two parts. During the first half, we will experience, explore and play with different elements of instant composition such as vocal improvisation, body percussion and movement.
In the second half, you will bring your own ideas based on what we have experienced. Then, we will set them into a game which will be your new composition.

About the host:

I am a composer, arranger and singer. I graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance with a Master's degree in composition and participated in many workshops, seminars and residencies around the world focusing on composition, voice and improvisation.

I started singing in a choir when I was 10 and discovered the world of musical composition during high-school. That was also the time I decided to become a professional musician.

I love composing and arranging for instruments and voices and I love singing with people in many different formats and styles: from big classical choirs to small ensembles of folk music.

One of my credos is that music can be made by everyone, and that music is not only for musicians! I believe that with very simple tools, a few rules and a lot of creativity and motivation, every group of people can become a little orchestra or choir who creates its own new piece together.
